Who are the Masons?

Masons in Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey congregate at Harmony Lodge #18, the friendliest Lodge in Thurston County, WA. Our Lodge includes a broad cross-section of the community and we welcome men over the age of 18 who want to improve themselves by associating with like-minded peers. Our membership is distributed fairly evenly across age groups and by profession, although because of the proximity to Fort Lewis (JBLM), many of our members are active duty military or veterans.

The Masonic Fraternity is the oldest Fraternity in the world. The Masonic Family includes Masons as well as organizations for their ladies, couples, and youth.

The Masonic Family provides more than $2 million a day to charitable activities such as hospitals, youth scholarship, and those less fortunate than we.

Funeral services for Bro. Kevin Holmes

Submitted by Secretary WB Rich Lathrope:

Brethren & Ladies All,

We have news on the arrangements for Kevin Holmes’ funeral.

You can obtain details and an view his obituary on the Edwards Memorial site at http://www.edwardsmemorial.com/ and this includes a Guest Book for you to sign.

The funeral will be held in the new Masonic Building next to the one in which we regularly meet. There will be a viewing available from 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 25th.

The funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by the Chaplain of the First Special Forces. A Masonic Memorial will follow. We will then go outside where Military Honors will be paid to Br Kevin.

A reception will follow in the New Masonic Building.

It would really help if we could get some idea of the numbers of people who will be in attendance. Please reply back to me if you are coming and please indicate if your lady will be accompanying you. To the Brethren who are not members of Harmony – I have received so many inquiries about Kevin, who was only 42 and not yet a year into Masonry, but had already made many friends because of his easy-going manner – that I have sent this e-mail to everyone. Your company, to help us share our grief, over one struck down when so young would be welcomed.

Fraternally

Rich Lathrope
