Who are the Masons?

Masons in Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey congregate at Harmony Lodge #18, the friendliest Lodge in Thurston County, WA. Our Lodge includes a broad cross-section of the community and we welcome men over the age of 18 who want to improve themselves by associating with like-minded peers. Our membership is distributed fairly evenly across age groups and by profession, although because of the proximity to Fort Lewis (JBLM), many of our members are active duty military or veterans.

The Masonic Fraternity is the oldest Fraternity in the world. The Masonic Family includes Masons as well as organizations for their ladies, couples, and youth.

The Masonic Family provides more than $2 million a day to charitable activities such as hospitals, youth scholarship, and those less fortunate than we.

Updated Christmas Party Planning Meeting

From Harmony's intrepid Secretary, WB Rich Lathrope:

Hi,

The Jobies have determined to hold a monthly potluck for all the Masonic Family. It only makes sense to use this occasion to hold the Christmas Party planning meeting – it will also help us in supporting their efforts to bring the local Masonic organizations closer together. I have attached a copy of their flier for the event courtesy of Kathy Backman.

So instead of Friday November 20th before the Olympia #1 meeting we will assemble on Thursday November 12th at 6:00 p.m. This is also the time for the Pot Luck so bring along a dish to share and enjoy what should be an interesting social.

Also please spread news that every Masonic organization is welcome to become part of the process for planning the Christmas Party – unfortunately it is tough to keep up with who is in charge of what and some organizations may have been overlooked – this is unintentional, so please invite anyone who has not been to a meeting to come along.

If you would like a copy of the minutes of the meeting held last month please e-mail me. We determined that each organization would invite one needy family – and we also discovered that we will probably not have to go outside the confines of Masonry to find such families – funding for this process would come from voluntary donations not the organizations themselves. Our homework was to come up with ideas for things to do at the Xmas Party that involved physical activity but did not require throwing things at fellow DeMolays or Worshipful Masters (or vice versa).

Fraternally,

Rich
