Who are the Masons?

Masons in Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey congregate at Harmony Lodge #18, the friendliest Lodge in Thurston County, WA. Our Lodge includes a broad cross-section of the community and we welcome men over the age of 18 who want to improve themselves by associating with like-minded peers. Our membership is distributed fairly evenly across age groups and by profession, although because of the proximity to Fort Lewis (JBLM), many of our members are active duty military or veterans.

The Masonic Fraternity is the oldest Fraternity in the world. The Masonic Family includes Masons as well as organizations for their ladies, couples, and youth.

The Masonic Family provides more than $2 million a day to charitable activities such as hospitals, youth scholarship, and those less fortunate than we.

Harmony's 3rd year of Bikes for Books

This is the third year for our involvement in the popular and growing Bikes for Books program. Previously, we had two schools each year (eight bikes). In 2006-2007, we served two Tumwater schools and in 2007-2008 two Olympia Schools.

This year we are pleased to serve four schools in both Tumwater and Lacey, which amounts to sixteen bikes to be donated! We work with the third and fourth grades which is where the principals indicated they need the most help in promoting reading.

The schools are:

  • Michael T. Simmons (Tumwater)
  • Peter G. Schmidt (Tumwater)
  • Pleasant Glade (Lacey)
  • Lydia Hawk (Lacey)

The presentations of the bikes will probably be held in June. Those dates/times will be presented as soon as they are set in conjunction with each individual school and principal.

Thank you for supporting this wonderful program!
