Master's Charge Competition - Sept. 2nd

Harmony #18 is hosting an all-Masonic Master's Charge competition on Tuesday, September 2nd. The Master’s Charge competition is where brethren compete in demonstrating their abilities to perform the closing Master’s Charge. Not only is this a wonderful piece of poetry, it is also Monitorial – which means that we can invite our ladies and guests into Lodge to witness a part of our rites. If you fancy your chances and would like to be a contestant please contact Secretary Rich Lathrope (rich.lathrope@comcast.net). Competition will be open to all Masons of all degrees and Lodges. Time for all you people from other Lodges to step up and enter! Due to time constraints, we are accepting the first ten (or so!) Brothers who put their names in the hat. If you would like to brush up on the Charge and have misplaced your WA Monitor, the Charge is spelled out on this website, under memory work. Good luck!

Oh, did we mention that this evening is also the official visit of the Grand Master, MWB Douglas Tucker? Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP for the meal to Junior Warden Kurt Schmid (45trout@comcast.net) so that we can be sure to have plenty of food and libation for you all.

WB Rod stands ready with forms to accept payment for the Scottish Rite golf tournament on June 27th. This has a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the Capital City Golf Course which can be accessed from the Yelm Highway. Entry fee is $85 and includes a cart, round of golf, and a surf and turf dinner. He is getting close to maxing out – so get those forms into him, but if you want to turn up on the day with cash in hand, that may be OK.

Saturday June 7th 4:00 p.m. CHIPS Training

What if your son or daughter or grand child is abducted and five years later a child is found that matches their description. How do you know if this is your child or not? What an awful situation with which to be presented. This is far from the only use for the CHIPS program.

Masonry has adopted this program as a way to contribute to the community. To make it work we need people trained in collecting samples and making the computer discs, and, probably more importantly, in learning how to explain the program to potential participants. So come and get trained, Br Jon Lenander promises to make it all fun and VWB Ian Ricker will be around because he is another one of those splendid fellows who is always around.

Funeral services for VWB Dennis Robins

The funeral for VWB Dennis Robins will be at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday the 20th. The address for the chapel is 351 N. 5th Street Toledo 98591. There will be a potluck dinner at the Lions Hall in Vader following the services. VWB Dennis was a past Deputy of the Grand Master in nearby District #18 and a member of Little Falls Lodge #176, in Vader. He and his enthusiasm for the annual Grand Master's roast in Vader will be sorely missed.

Wednesday Morning Kaffe Klatch

Street Revisions and Lodge

Evidently, the city will allow local traffic to proceed down North Street for the whole year that they plan on having it dug up. However, there is a back entrance to the cemetery off of Cleveland. This would enable one to avoid the rigors of the road repairs, park in the new cemetery building lot and walk across the graveyard those few steps to Lodge. Cleveland is the main road perpendicular to North St that eventually turns into being Yelm Highway or Capitol Way. The entrance is just past the Odd Fellows Cemetery as you head North. Please drive through the cemetery in a respectful manner.

We are performing an, as yet, indeterminate number of second degrees. We have four candidates ready for their second degree. We will have to open Lodge at 7:30 p.m. so that their coaches can attest to their proficiencies and then get down to business.

Job’s Daughters are holding an auction to raise money for their Bethel. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. and the auction will follow. This is a wonderful opportunity to help one of our youth groups support themselves. Tickets are $15 and reservations can be obtained from Gloria Lloyd at (360) 753-7339 or lonlloyd@netzero.net . We are very blessed to have three very active and successful youth groups. Here is an opportunity to do so while being surrounded by their youthful energy and pulchritude while eating good food and having great fun bidding on useful items. Tenino is having their annual Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. They already have 29 reservations (that’s more than Harmony gets!), so it promises to be a super evening. Tickets are $8 up to close of business on Tuesday, then $10 at the door. Tickets available from Rich over the net or at Lodge – no cash, checks only - made out to Tenino Lodge #86. Tenino has been opening on the EAM degree lately so all our EAM’s are welcome (as indeed are our candidates – to the dinner)

District Meeting recap

The District Meeting, Feb 29th was an unqualified success with WM Casper on the door collecting for 103 dinners. All the GL elected officers were in attendance, plus three candidates for JGW in June, as well as a selection of other GL team members!

Thursday March 20th – Harmony is going, in force, to Tenino’s Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. Tickets $8 pre-order or $10 at the door. Contact Secretary Rich for tickets.

Saturday March 29th – Harmony is going, in force, down to the coast – to Gavel Lodge in Raymond for an all you can eat seafood dinner at 5 pm. Tickets are $20, contact the Secretary if you plan on going, we will car pool and caravan for the “Road Trip”.

Chehalis Crab Feed Recap

Update: I just received word that after donations were added in, Chehalis lodge grossed just under $8,000!!! What an amazing success!

Greetings Brothers.

I was so glad to see so many of you at the Chehalis Lodge Crab Feed last night. As you know, Chehalis Lodge’s Temple Board has had a rough go of it lately.

But I am proud to say that there 18 Harmony Lodge Number 18 brothers in attendance, as well as several guests that our fellow brothers had brought along.

We managed to account for one third of all participants, and helped raise $4,700 dollars! $1500 was raised from the crab feed alone and another $3200 from the amazing auction! Our brothers contributed $600 in the auction.

A special thank you goes out to all the brothers who contributed with financial donations in lieu of attendance. Your contribution was greatly appreciated by the Chehalis brothers.
